As the mother of a nine-year-old, I thought that I had motherhood figured out! But, when Jude arrived four weeks early, I quickly learned that I had forgotten so much. All of the sleepless nights and inconsolable crying had drifted from my memory throughout the years. I had also forgotten the change in perspective that comes naturally when caring for a little one so new to the world. Caring for Jude over the last eight weeks has enabled me to take a pause from the daily grind and appreciate each and every milestone. He looks at the world through new eyes, every little thing amazes him and he smells like a dream. He recently smiled for the first time and is working hard to control his neck! He has brought such joy and energy to our home. Each day brings new milestones, challenges, laughter, and at times, frustration and tears, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
